Solving Equations - Multiplying or Dividing

How does one write and solve multiplication and division equations? This topic covers this concept, along with two step equations.

Topic: Multiplication and Two Step Equations

  • An equation such as 2a = 4 is a multiplication equation. To solve this equation we use the inverse operation called the division

  • An equation such as 2x - 4 = 10 is an example of a two step equation. It has two operations - multiplication and subtraction

  • To solve the above equation, we will perform two operations:
Addition (inverse of subtraction) and Division (inverse of multiplication)

Topic: Division and Two Step Equations

  • The equation a/3 + 15 = 12 is an example of two step equation. It has two operations - division and addition

  • To solve the above equation, we will perform two operations:
Subtraction (inverse of addition) and Multiplication (inverse of division)
