3D Nets and Views

In this topic, we learn to identify figures from 3-D nets and draw the nets of 3-D figures. We also learn to draw the top, front, and side views by analyzing a 3-D model.

Topic: 3-Dimensional Nets

  • A net is the pattern made when the surface of a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure

  • A net is folded to make a three-dimensional figure

  • A figure can be unfolded in more than one way

  • Identify the base of the net and fold along the edges to form the respective 3-D model

Topic: Three-Dimensional Figures from Different Views

  • Identify the top, front, and side of the figure

  • Sketch each side as it looks when you look at it directly

  • View the figure from the front, top, and side and draw what you see
