Concepts of Geometry

This concept covers basic geometry fundamentals required for algebra, such as the coordinate plane. We learn about transformations, distance and midpoints on the coordinate plane. In addition, we learn about triangle similarity, the Pythagorean Theorem, and basics of trigonometry.
The concept is broken into smaller topics, which makes it easier and much more fun for students. The topics are listed below:-
Midpoint and Distance in the Coordinate Plane
In this topic, we learn to develop and apply the formula for midpoint. We also learn to use the Distance Formula and the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between two points.
Ordered Pairs on Coordinate Plane
In this topic, we will learn to plot and identify ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. We will also learn to solve application problems based on the coordinate plane.
The Pythagorean Theorem
This topic covers finding the length of the third side of a right triangle when the other two sides are known. The topic also covers Pythagorean triples and some application problems.
Transformations in the Coordinate Plane
In this topic, we learn to identify transformations, which include reflections, rotations, and translations. We also learn to graph transformations on the coordinate plane.
Triangle Similarity - AA, SSS, and SAS
In this topic, we learn to prove certain triangles similar using AA, SAS, and SSS. We also learn to use triangle similarity to solve problems.
Trigonometric Ratios
In this topic, we learn to find trigonometric ratios in special right triangles and to find lengths using trigonometric ratios. We also use inverse trigonometric functions to find the measure of an angle.
