Comparing and Ordering Fractions

To compare fractions that have the same denominators, just look at the numerators. The fraction with the larger numerator is larger

'<' represents 'less than'
'>' represents 'greater than'
'=' represents 'equal to'

To compare fractions that have the same numerator, just look at the denominators. The fraction with the larger denominator is smaller and the fraction with smaller denominator is larger

To compare two fractions with unlike numerator and unlike denominator, use equivalent fractions with the same denominator or decimal equivalent of the fractions

One way to compare fractions that always works is to find the equivalent fraction that have the same denominator and then compare the numerators
