Graphing Functions

To find solutions of an equation with two variables, substitute some values of one variable and find the corresponding values for the other

When the ordered pairs of some functions are graphed, they form a straight line. These straight lines are called linear functions

To plot a linear function, plot the ordered pairs on the graph and join them to form a line

To read the value of y for a given value of x from the graph, move up from the value of x on x axis. From the point where you intersect the graph, move left/right to the y axis and note the value of y

An ordered pair is a solution to an equation if the values of x and y from the ordered pair satisfy the equation

Substitute the x-y values into the equation. If both sides are equal, the equation is satisfied

To find a missing y value, substitute the value of x into the equation and vice-versa
