Add and Subtract Integers

On the number line, positive integers indicate “to the right of zero” and negative integers indicate “to the left of zero”

To add two integers x and y, we can use 2 methods:

a) Number line
b) Absolute values

To add two integers with the same sign, find the sum of their absolute values and place the sign of the two integers

To add two integers with different signs, find the difference of their absolute values and place the sign of the integer with the greater absolute value
