  • Use models to represent parts of a group

  • A fraction is written as a/b, with two whole numbers that are separated by a fraction bar

  • Numerator describes the number of parts being considered

  • Denominator describes the number of equal parts into which the whole is divided

  • If a box consists of 5 blueberries and 1 raspberry, then the fraction of blueberries is 5/6 and that of raspberry is 1/6

  • Use counters to find parts of a group

  • A fraction is written as a/b, with two whole numbers that are separated by a fraction bar

  • Numerator describes the number of parts being considered. Denominator describes the number of equal parts into which the whole is divided

  • To find 2/3 of 15, divide 15 by the denominator and then multiply 5 by the numerator to find how many are in 2 groups
