3D Figures

A polyhedron is a three-dimensional object with flat surfaces, called faces that are polygons

When two faces of a three dimensional figure share a side, they form an edge

A point at which three or more edges meet is a vertex (plural: vertices)

We can sort 3-dimensional figures by characteristics. A cube has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices. A sphere has 1 curved surface. A cone has 1 curved side, 1 face, 1 edge, and 1 vertex

A cylinder has 1 curved side, 2 faces, and 2 edges. A pyramid has 5 faces, 8 edges, and 5 vertices
