Volume of Cones and Pyramids

The Volume (V) of a pyramid is one third of the area of the base (B) times the height (h). The Base of the pyramid can be any polygonal figure (square, triangle, rectangle, pentagon......etc.)

Volume of a pyramid = 1/3 (Area of the base x Height of the pyramid)

When the height of the pyramid is doubled, the volume doubles

A cone has a circular base. The height of a cone is measured from the highest point to the base along a line perpendicular to the base

When the radius of a cone is doubled, the volume becomes 4 times the original volume. When the height is doubled, the volume becomes 2 times the original volume
