Weight in Customary and Metric system

In this topic, we will learn to identify and convert customary and metric units of weight. Applications of weight measurements are also covered.

Topic: Weight Conversions and Comparisons

  • Conversion table for Customary units of weight:
    1 pound (lb) = 16 ounces (oz)

    1 ton (T) = 2000 pounds (lb)

  • Conversion table for metric units of weight:
    1 gram (g) = 1000 milligrams (mg)

    1 kilogram (kg) = 1000 grams (g)

  • To change from larger units of weight to smaller units, we use multiplication

  • To change from smaller units of weight to larger units, we use division
