Temperature Scales and Conversion

In this topic, we learn to measure temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius. We also learn to compare the two temperature scales and to find the change in temperature.

Topic: Compare Temperature Scales

  • We can use two thermometers (oC thermometer and oF thermometer) to compare the temperature

  • To convert degrees Fahrenheit (oF) into degrees Celsius (oC) or vice versa, we can use two formulas:
    C = 5/9 x (F - 32) and F = (9/5 x C) + 32

Topic: Find Temperature Change

  • Use the Fahrenheit thermometer to find the change in temperature

  • Temperatures can be below 0oF or 0oC. These are negative temperatures
