Place value is the value of a digit in a number. The value of digit depends on its position in the number
Read each digit in the number from right to left and fill the place value chart moving from right to left
The rightmost digit goes into the ones column, the second digit from the right goes into the tens column, the third digit from the right goes into the hundreds column and so on
A digit in the hundreds column has a place value of 100
The value of the digit is written by replacing the 1 in the standard notation with the digit itself

Use the place value chart to express a number in different forms
To express a number in the expanded form, identify the value of each digit in the number using the place value chart and write the value in an addition expression
To express a number in the word form, read the place value chart from left side and write the number in words with its place value
To express a number in the standard form, write the digits from the place value table from left to right. A comma has to be placed after every three digits counting from the right
