Topic: Compare and Order Using a Number Line

  • Number lines and place values can be used to compare and order numbers

  • A number line is a line with numbers written on it, in increasing order from left to right

  • The symbols used when comparing two numbers are: <, >, and =
    '<' means "less than", '>' means "greater than", '=' means "equal to"

  • To compare numbers using number line, represent the numbers on a number line. On a
    number line, a number on the right is greater than one on the left

Topic: Compare and Order using Place Value

  • Number lines and place values can be used to compare and order numbers

  • The symbols used when comparing two numbers are: <, >, and =
    '<' means "less than", '>' means "greater than", '=' means "equal to"

  • To compare and order numbers using place values, compare the digits at the greatest place. If the digits are the same, compare the digits at the next place and so on
