Use Numbers to Find Percents

In this topic, we learn to find the percent one number is of another. We also learn to interpret and make circle graphs.

Topic: Find Percents

  • A percent is another way to name a fraction or decimal

  • To find percent using number, write the numbers in form of a fraction and then divide the numerator by the denominator

  • To convert decimals to percents, multiply the decimal by 100

Topic: Find Decimal Percents

  • A percent is another way to name a fraction or decimal. Percent means per hundred, or out of a hundred

  • To find percent using number, write the numbers in form of fraction and then divide the numerator by the denominator

  • To convert decimals to percents, multiply the decimal by 100

  • Some decimals do not terminate, or end. They are called repeating decimals

  • When the decimal does not terminate, we can round

Topic: Circle Graphs

  • A circle graph is a graph in which data is represented by parts of a circle, also known as a pie chart or a pie graph

  • The entire circle graph represents 100%. Each section of the graph tells us what percent of the total is represented

  • The sum of the measures of the central angles of a circle is always 360o

  • To find the number of degrees for each part, multiply each part by 360o
