This topic teaches us various Properties of Multiplication to help multiply. The properties include: Associative, Commutative, Distributive, Identity, and Zero Property.

Topic: Properties of Multiplication

  • Commutative Property: The order of the factors does not change a product. For example, 6 x 8 = 8 x 6

  • Associative Property: The way factors are grouped does not change a product. For example, (11 x 3) x 4 = 11 x (3 x 4)

  • Distributive Property of Multiplication: When a number is multiplied by the sum of (difference between) two other numbers, the first number can be handed out or distributed to both of those two numbers and multiplied by each of them separately

  • Identity Property: The product of any factor and 1 equals the factor. For example, 32 x 1 = 32

  • Zero Property: The product of any factor and 0 equals 0. For example, 91 x 0 = 0
